Carlos Ernesto Soria (born March 1, 1949 in Bahía Blanca , Province of Buenos Aires , Argentina , † January 1, 2012 in General Roca , Province of Río Negro , Argentina) was an Argentine lawyer and politician of the Peronist Party , the last governor of the Province of Río Negro was.

Life

After attending school, Soria studied law at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and worked as a lawyer after being admitted to the bar.

He began his political career when he became a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Cámara de Diputados ) for the first time on December 10, 1983 and represented the province of Río Negro there until September 21, 1999. He then became Minister of Justice and Security in the government of the Province of Buenos Aires, but after a few weeks on December 10, 1999, he handed this office over to Aldo Rico. Instead, he was again elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies, in which he now represented the Province of Buenos Aires until January 2, 2002.

On January 2, 2002, President named Eduardo Duhalde Minister of Intelligence ( Secretaría de Inteligencia ). In this position he was responsible for the system of the Argentine secret services, the Sistema de Inteligencia Nacional, until his replacement by Miguel Ángel Toma on July 10, 2002 .

He held this position after being sworn in on December 9, 2011 until his death from a head shot in the bedroom of his country house on January 1, 2012.
