Carlos Widmann

Carlos Widmann (* 1938 in Buenos Aires ) is a German journalist .

Life

Carlos Widmann, born and raised in Buenos Aires, became a newspaper editor at the Süddeutsche Zeitung after studying in Munich . Since 1965 he has been constantly on the road as a foreign correspondent, until 1991 for the Süddeutsche in Rio de Janeiro , New Delhi , Rome and Washington , from 1991 for Spiegel in Washington and then in Paris .

In 1986 he was awarded the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize for his Haiti report, Kleine, Bad Welt, about the Duvalier clan in the southern German region .

In 1987 he received the Theodor Wolff Prize for an article in Süddeutsche.
