from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carlson Reinhard (born January 28, 1953 in Cologne ; † March 7, 2020 ) was a German journalist . In the 1980s and 1990s he was editor-in-chief of cycling magazines such as Tour and Velo . Later he created and supervised various other special interest magazines as well as the in-house magazine of McDonald's Kinderhilfe . From 2008 he wrote three adventure books, published by Bielefelder Verlag and Piper -Malik.

Youth and education

Carlson Reinhard was the son of a bookseller. He spent his youth in Bochum (from 1955 to 1964) and Duisburg (until 1971), where he graduated from the Landfermann Gymnasium . In 1971 he began studying philosophy and sociology at the Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg, which he completed in 1977 as a Magister Artium . During and after his studies, he spent several months in Canada , where he worked on the “ Grand Council Treaty # 9 ” project for the Cree Indians in Ontario .

Professional background

At the end of 1978 Carlson Reinhard returned to Germany and worked in Reutlingen as editor of Tour magazine. Other employees were Christian Smolik for the technical area, Peter Konopka for medical questions and Wolfgang Gronen as a cycling historian. After the Reutlinger Lütze Verlag went bankrupt, Tour was taken over by the Munich Atlas Verlag in 1984.

The editorial department was outsourced in the course of the change of publisher and has operated as an independent editorial office since then. In 1990 the office took over the complete editing of the Zweirad-Magazin , a new trade journal for the bicycle trade. The first tour specials on topics such as “cycling technology” and “mountain biking” appeared. Between 1985 and 1993 the sold circulation rose from approx. 29,000 copies to over 80,000 copies. In 1993, however, the collaboration between the publisher and the editorial team came to an end.

After a six-month transition period, a concept was implemented with the Swiss AT Verlag to turn their Velo magazine into a cycling magazine for the entire German-speaking area. The July 1993 edition was still called Tour , the August edition was already called Velo . In 1996 AT Verlag got into financial difficulties and the magazine was discontinued.

From 1998 Reinhard's editorial office produced the in-house magazine of McDonald's Kinderhilfe , from 1998 to 2001 the magazine Sportrad of the Zweirad -kauf-Genossenschaft (ZEG) and the 1998 edition of the Tour de France road book and from 2004 to 2006 "Helping Hands".

Carlson Reinhard last lived in Wutha-Farnroda, Thuringia .
