The Carlsson C25 is a luxury super sports car based on the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG (R 230) from the German vehicle tuning company and automobile manufacturer Carlsson .
overview
The Carlsson C25 is designed as a two-seater Gran Turismo . The vehicle was presented to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show 2010 and is limited to 25 pieces. In order to maintain the highest level of exclusivity, Carlsson only wants to sell a maximum of one copy per country. The designer Rolf Schepp , known under the artist name DeLusi, is responsible for the design of the C25 . His collaboration with Carlsson dates back to 1995 and was further intensified from 2007 onwards. Schepp has been chief designer of the Mercedes-Benz tuner since 2009.
development
The C25 is the first complete vehicle developed in-house by Carlsson. With this project, the automobile manufacturer would like to demonstrate its competencies and, according to its own statements, offer an exclusive vehicle with extreme driving performance and at the same time comprehensive everyday suitability. This is achieved above all by the Carlsson C-Tronic SUSPENSION chassis, which continuously adjusts the setting depending on the driving style and road surface. A four-seater Shooting Brake was originally discussed, but was not implemented due to a lack of interest from potential customers.
According to managing director Markus Schuster, the high-volume technology will not be fundamentally modified to ensure that Mercedes-Benz dealers can maintain the C25 worldwide. For example, the crash points at the front of the vehicle are retained and the headlight technology used in series production. The folding roof of the basic Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG, on the other hand, will be removed and replaced with a fixed carbon fiber roof. Setting up the basic equipment alone takes four to five months.
The interior of the C25 has a center console inclined towards the driver and more contoured seats. Alcantara, leather and carbon are the defining materials in the interior.
engine
The 612 PS (450 kW ) V12 biturbo engine in the base car Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG (R 230) develops 753 PS (554 kW) in the Carlsson C25, the maximum torque of 1000 Newton meters increases to an electronically limited 1150 Newton meters. This is achieved, for example, through a new sports exhaust system made of stainless steel, modified electronics and a turbocharger with higher boost pressure. The displacement of the engine remains unchanged from the base car at six liters.
Performance
The Carlsson C25 accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds and from 0 to 200 in 10.6 seconds. It reaches a top speed of 352 km / h.
