Carmen von Samson-Himmelstjerna ( pseudonym : Sylveline Schönwald , born August 25, 1963 in Limburg an der Lahn ) is a German literary scholar , translator and writer .

Life

Carmen von Samson-Himmelstjerna grew up bilingual, u. a. in India and the USA . She graduated from high school in Washington, DC . Then studied them German and history at the University of Bonn , and in 1985 German and medieval studies in Berlin . She was a research assistant at the Free University with a research focus on German preaching in the Middle Ages. 1999 doctorate it with a thesis on pilgrims in the Middle Ages "Doctor of Philosophy ".

Carmen von Samson-Himmelstjerna has been working as an interpreter and translator since 1987 . In 1992 she passed the examination as a business interpreter at the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry . She has been a sworn court interpreter since 1993 and head of her own translation office in Berlin since 1994. She translated numerous works of fiction and non-fiction from English and wrote a novel in addition to her professional activity . She lives in Berlin and Büecke.
