Carola Glaser

Carola Glaser (* in Basel ) is a Swiss opera singer ( soprano ).

Carola Glaser was born into a family of musicians. She went to New York to study music , where she studied with Peter K. Elkus at Mannes College of Music and later with Kurt Widmer in her hometown of Basel . She graduated with a bachelor's degree and a concert diploma.

Engagements took her to the Staatstheater Oldenburg , Freiberg in Saxony and Berlin . She experienced her breakthrough in 2008 when she performed the role of Christine in Intermezzo by Richard Strauss at the Theater an der Wien . She then took on a number of Wagner roles such as Elsa in Lohengrin , Elisabeth in Tannhäuser , Irene in Rienzi and Mariana in Liebesverbot . From 2014 she played the title roles in Richard Strauss' operas Arabella and Salome .

Glaser has appeared in the Komische Oper Berlin , the Bonn Opera , the State Theater in Darmstadt , the Frankfurt Opera , the Saxony Theater , the Rome Opera , the Seoul Arts Center and at the Salzburg Festival .

Glaser also works as a concert singer. She works u. a. with conductors like Wladimir Jurowski , Johannes Debus, Jan Michael Horstmann , Raoul Grüneis, Kirill Petrenko , Stefan Soltesz , Gustav Kuhn as well as directors like Stefan Herheim , Christof Loy , Damiano Michieletto and Hugo de Ana.
