Carola Pekrun

Carola Pekrun (born August 1963 in Saarbrücken ) is a German crop scientist. She is a university professor and vice-rector at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences (HfWU).

Live and act

Pekrun studied agricultural science with a focus on crop production at the Georg-August University Göttingen , degree in agricultural engineering in 1989. As a student at the Institute of Agronomy and Plant Breeding, University of Goettingen, she wrote her dissertation: Studies on the secondary dormancy in canola and thus became the Dr. agr doctorates.

During subsequent research stays at the English research institute in Rothamsted Research (1994–1997), the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna in the field of crop production (1997–1998) and the University of Hohenheim at the Institute for Crop Science (1998–2004) she worked on numerous projects on environmentally friendly crop production. In 2003 he completed his habilitation for the subject of crop production with the subject of the habilitation thesis: Influence of soil cultivation on the survival of seeds and other parameters relating to crop production, with special consideration of the population dynamics of volunteer rape .

As a coordinator for organic farming and consumer protection at the University of Hohenheim, in 2004 Pekrun accepted the call to the University of Göttingen as a coordinator at the Research and Study Center for Agriculture and Environment. In 2006, Perkun accepted the call to professor for crop production and quality management at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Economics and Environment (HfWU). She is a member of numerous international agricultural science committees. As prorector at the HfWU, she is responsible for research and transfer as well as the sustainable development of the university .
