Alexander Ivanovich Zhukov

Alexander Ivanovich Zhukov ( Russian Александр Иванович Жуков * 1. August 1898 in Jaropolez, Moscow Oblast , Russian Empire ; † 14. July 1965 ) was a Soviet theater - and film - actor .

Life

Zhukov came from the village of Yaropolets in the Volokolamsky rajon . His father was a trader, his mother worked in agriculture. In 1910 Zhukov finished the three-class city school, then attended a trade school in Moscow until 1917 and the technological department of the Moscow Trade Institute until 1918. Afterwards he was head of cultural policy at the Wolokolamsk military office for about a year . From July 1918 to March 1920 Zhukov was a member of the WKP (B) and since April 1921 the council of the Soviet artists' union.

In 1921, Zhukov began his acting career at the Moscow Theater of the Krasnoprenensk Soviet , but moved to the Tiwoli Theater in 1922 . After several open-air performances in 1923, he appeared at the Kaljew Theater until 1924 , then briefly at the Volodarsk City Theater and until 1925 at the Sretensk Drama Theater .

In 1925 Zhukov made his film debut in the drama Морока ( Moroka ) and was under contract with Meschrabpom from June 1936 . Up to and including Фома Гордеев ( Foma Gordejew , 1959) based on Maxim Gorki 's novel of the same name , the dark-haired mime played as a supporting actor in 33 films. On his work which includes historical film Булат Батыр ( Bulat Batyr , 1927), the biopic Gorky's Childhood (1938), in which he portrayed an uncle of the author, and Sholokhov - adaptation The Quiet Don (1957-58). In Marionetten (1934) Schukow worked for the first time with Alexander Rou , in whose directorial debut The Magic Fish (1938) he could be seen as well as in Rou's later works Mainacht (1952) and The Adventures of Puss in Boots (1957).

Note: Schukow is sometimes also mentioned as the actor of Danila in Rous Das Wunderpferdchen , which according to other sources was played by Anatoly Schukow .
