action

In the Caspian Sea sinking a ship, from which two men can save during a strong storm. For two days, clinging to a piece of wood and fighting for their lives, they head south until they are rescued by fishermen passing by. You will be taken to an island in the south of Soviet Azerbaijan .

On land, Aljoscha and Yusuf meet the beautiful head of a women's brigade who repair the nets of the fishing cooperative, with which both immediately fall in love. A little later they meet Masha again in the office of the “Lights of Communism” collective farm and it turns out that the two friends have a delegation to support the fishermen. Aljoscha is supposed to maintain a launch as a machinist for three months and Yusuf is supposed to support the fishermen. During a tease, Aljoscha tears off Masha's necklace, the individual pearls of which fall into the sea. Now she demands of him to collect them all again, which of course does not succeed.

One day, Aljoscha doesn't show up for work, but calls in sick. Instead of using the motor launch, the fishermen now have to go out to sea in a smaller boat to catch them. When everyone is gone, Alyosha takes a boat to row to the city on the mainland. Here he buys a new necklace and a bouquet of flowers for Mascha so that he can give her both that evening. Suddenly there is no longer any sign of illness. Yusuf observes him and confronts him, even accusing him of a meeting of the kolkhoz.

During a trip to fish the two friends are forgiving and each treats the other to Mascha as a friend. But that doesn't go well for long and they become arch rivals, because everyone claims Mascha for themselves. In the case of a strong storm in the night, Mascha is torn from the ship and Aljoscha and Yussef jump after them to save them, which does not succeed, which is why they have to get back on the ship. After her return to shore, a funeral is held in honor of Masha, which is suddenly interrupted by her entering the hall. Horrified, she asks who died until she is told that the grief is dedicated to her. However, with the help of a lifebuoy, she was able to survive and a big party now follows.

Mascha wants to explain to Aljoscha, who followed her into her house after the party, that she loves someone else, but he doesn't listen. He thinks that Yusuf is the lucky one and decides to leave the island. She also wants to tell Yusuf the same thing, but he listens and finds out that Mascha is bound and that her fiancé is serving in the Navy on the Pacific . That is also a reason for Yusuf not to stay longer and he just reached the boat to go home with Aljoscha.
