Life and artistic work

At the age of two and a half she received her first lessons on the soprano trombone from her mother, a trombonist, and at the age of seven she was already playing trumpet duet concerts with her brother. At 10 she received her first scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music in New York and at 16 she was the first woman to be recognized as a bandleader of the Salvation Army and gave her first international concert in Toronto, Canada. As a result, she received a scholarship at the University of Miami and was named "National College Queen" in 1960.

She was the first female brass player to study with Helmut Wobisch at the Vienna Music Academy with a Fulbright scholarship , which she graduated with honors.

This was followed by an international career as a soloist in numerous concerts with top orchestras and in TV programs. In 1971 she moved to Berlin , did studio work, performed engagements with the Deutsche Oper Berlin and continued her international concerts. With the Munich Philharmonic and the Bach Soloists, among others , she recorded classical trumpet literature with Deutsche Grammophon and BASF.

In 1983 she was appointed professor for trumpet at the Vienna University of Music, which in turn caused a sensation in the male-dominated brass world. From 1996 to 1998 she was also the head of the department for wind and percussion instruments.

In 1996 she ended her solo career and continued teaching at the Vienna Music University until 2011. In 2009 Reinhart wrote her dissertation on Women Brass Musicians: Historical Documentation and the Influence of the International Women's Brass Conference on their Profession .
