Carole Fredericks

Carole Fredericks (born June 5, 1952 in Springfield , Massachusetts , † June 7, 2001 in Dakar , Senegal ) was an American singer, who achieved fame especially in France . She was the younger sister of the blues musician Taj Mahal .

biography

At the age of 20, Carole Fredericks moved to California , where she began her career as a singer. In 1979 she moved to France, where she was hired as a choir singer by many renowned singers and musicians. They included Eric Clapton , Céline Dion , Mylène Farmer , François Feldman , France Gall , Jean-Jacques Goldman , Johnny Hallyday , Thierry Hazard , Elton John , Julie Pietri , Michel Sardou and Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine . In the 1980s and 1990s, Fredericks remained a sought-after singer, along with her friends Anne Calvert, Yvonne Jones, Joniece Jamison, Debbie Davis and Beckie Bell.

In 1990 she founded the trio Fredericks Goldman Jones together with Jean-Jacques Goldman and Michael Jones .

Fredericks died on June 7, 2001 after suffering a heart attack while stepping off the stage at the end of a concert in Dakar. It rests on the Cimetière de Montmartre in Paris .
