Carolyn Leckie

Carolyn Leckie (born March 5, 1965 ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish Socialist Party .

Life

Leckie attended Adelphi Secondary School in Glasgow and the St James College of Nursing and Midwifery , where she was trained as a midwife. She worked for the UNISON union and later as a midwife in Rutherglen .

Political career

In the Scottish parliamentary elections in 1999 , Leckie was in third place on the regional electoral list of the electoral region of Central Scotland and thus missed the entry into the Scottish Parliament . In the 2001 general election, she ran for the Glasgow Springburn constituency . She received only the third highest number of votes and received no mandate for the House of Commons . In the following parliamentary elections in 2003 , Leckie ran for the constituency of East Kilbride , but was again able to unite only the third highest number of votes. However, due to the election result, she moved into Parliament for the first time on the Central Scotland region's electoral list. She was in the 2007 general election on the first list of the Scottish Socialist Party. Nevertheless, she did not succeed in defending her mandate.
