East Kilbride is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of ten constituencies in the electoral region of Central Scotland . As part of the 2011 constituency revision, the area of East Kilbride was significantly reduced. Large, sparsely populated areas in the south of the district were added to the electoral region of South of Scotland , so that the constituency now only consists of the eponymous city of East Kilbride itself and its immediate vicinity. The constituency sends a representative.

The constituency extends over an area of 56.4 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 75,201 people lived within its borders.
