Linda Fabiani

Linda Fabiani (born December 14, 1956 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party .

Life

Fabiani attended Hyndland Secondary School in Glasgow and Napier College in Edinburgh . She then studied at the University of Glasgow . She then worked as a secretary for several years.

Political career

In the Scottish parliamentary elections in 1999 Fabiani stood as a candidate for the SNP for the constituency of East Kilbride , but was clearly defeated by Andy Kerr of the Labor Party. On the basis of the election result, she moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament as an envoy from the electoral region of Central Scotland via the regional list . In the following parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 , she ran again for East Kilbride, but did not win the direct mandate in either case. Even so, she retained her mandate on the Central Scotland regional list in both elections. At the 2011 parliamentary elections Fabiani won for the first time the direct mandate for East Kilbride. By winning votes, she defended her mandate in the 2016 elections .

In the shadow cabinet of the SNP, Fabiani was earmarked for various positions over the years. First for the transport and environment departments, then as deputy minister for social justice, as deputy parliamentary manager, as deputy minister for housing and finally as deputy municipal minister. From May 17, 2007 to February 10, 2009 she held the office of Minister for Europe, Foreign Affairs and Culture.
