Hamilton South was a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of ten constituencies in the electoral region of Central Scotland and abolished during the revision in 2011. The area was essentially part of the new constituencies of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse , and a small part of Uddingston and Bellshill . It covered areas of the South Lanarkshire Council Area . Hamilton is the largest city in the urban constituency south-east of Glasgow . In the 2001 census survey, a total of 60,005 people lived within its borders. The constituency sent a deputy.
