The Carroll Inlet is a bay on the English coast of the West Antarctic Ellsworthlands . It lies to the south-east between the Rydberg Peninsula and the Smyley Island . At the head end, it is divided into two branches by the Case Island and is bounded to the east by the Rod Ice Shelf .
It was discovered on December 22, 1940 during an overflight by participants in the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941). It is named after the US aerial photographer Arthur James Carroll (1907–1992), a member of the expedition.
