Carsten Drebenstedt (born February 3, 1959 in Magdeburg ) is a German mining engineer . He is professor for open pit mining at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg .

Life

Drebenstedt successfully defended his diploma thesis in 1982 on the use of bucket wheel excavator complexes in the overburden of the Mikhailovsky open-cast iron ore mine near Schelesnogorsk (USSR). He then worked at the Bärwalde opencast mine until 1987 , before moving to the newly opened Reichwalde opencast mine . During this time he did his doctorate in 1990 on the use of direct fall combinations ( excavator , spreader ).

Drebenstedt has been a professor at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg, Institute for Mining and Special Civil Engineering, since 1999.

He has been a member of the Ring of German Mining Engineers since 1992, and was elected 1st chairman in 2012.

In 2002 he was one of the founding members of the Geokompetenzzentrum Freiberg e. V. , as whose board member he is active. He has also been a board member of the Bergbaumuseum Knappenrode e. V. and since 2003 chairman of the board of InnoRegio Mittelachsen e. V.

He has been a full member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences since 2014 .
