Carsten M. Carlsen

Carsten Marensius Carlsen (born June 5, 1892 in Kristiania ; † August 28, 1961 ) was a Norwegian organist, conductor and composer.

Carlsen studied from 1909 to 1913 at the Kristiania Conservatory with Gustav Lange and Per Winge . As a scholarship holder, he completed his training in Paris from 1921 to 1923. From 1905 to 1910 he was organist at the Methodist Church in Kristiania and from 1910 to 1918 at the Tanum kirke in Bærum. As a conductor he worked from 1914 to 1938 at the Chat Noir in Oslo, then until 1941 at the National Theater and until 1945 at the Carl Johan Theater . Carlsen composed, among other things, two symphonies, two orchestral suites, a Sinfonietta, a piano quintet and two string quartets, the music for the crime film To levende og en død , around 50 romances, piano, violin and organ pieces and light music . He was married to actress and singer Lalla Carlsen .
