Carsten Thomas Ebenroth

Carsten Thomas Ebenroth (born December 10, 1943 in Pleschen ; † April 13, 2013 in Hegne ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Ebenroth grew up in a doctor's household in Nienburg . After graduating from high school in Hanover , he studied at the Technical University of Berlin and the Free University of Berlin . In 1968 he passed the first state law examination and the main diploma examination in business administration. In 1969 he was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD , 1971 under Wilhelm Wengler at the Free University of Berlin as Dr. iur. After working as a chartered accountant, he passed his second state law examination in 1972. In the same year he took over an assistant professorship at the Free University of Berlin. In 1972 he completed his habilitation with Wilhelm Wengler at the FU.

In 1978 he worked for Center Transnational Corp./UN in New York and was a member of the Board of Baurs-Krey Assoc. Inc. New York. In 1981 he was counselor at Whitman & Ransom New York, in 1982 he was a part-time judge at the Higher Regional Court in Karlsruhe and Vice President Hotz-AG Flims (CH).

After professorships at the University of Kiel and the University of Giessen , he received in 1976 a call to the University of Konstanz to the Chair of Civil Law, Business Law, Tax Law, International and Comparative Law. In 1980/81 he was Dean of the Law Faculty. He was deputy head of the Collaborative Research Center for the Internationalization of Business , which was supported by economists and lawyers, and headed the Center for International Economics .

In 1992, Asha-Rose Migiro , Vice Secretary-General of the United Nations, received her doctorate with him.

After an accident, Ebenroth retired in 1997 due to illness .
