Carsten Werner (born April 5, 1967 in Bremen ) is a German journalist, director and project developer. From 2011 to 2015 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

biography

education and profession

Werner works as a freelance editor, director and organizer.

He passed his Abitur at the Lilienthal grammar school. He then worked in community service at the AWO social service in Bremen. From 1987 to 1991 he worked at the Bremen Theater as an assistant director and theater pedagogue and at the same time as an intern and freelance writer in the founding editorial team of taz Bremen .

Between 1992 and 2003 he was the founder and director of the Young Theater Bremen . He worked there mainly as a director and organizer and was also active as a freelance artist manager for musicians and authors (including Tim Fischer , Cora Frost and The Tiger Lillies ). He was also involved in the cultural-political initiative An Impulse Bremen .

In 2002 he founded the Schwankhalle Bremen, which he also headed in various positions until 2010. Werner worked as a director in the Schwankhalle and developed a. a. the FreiRäumeN project to link urban and district development with art and culture, the cultural media project fluctuations and various radio and live talk formats.

From 2002 to 2011 and again since 2015 he has been working as a freelance editor and journalist at the Berliner Tagesspiegel in the newsroom of the political and local editorial offices.

From 2004 to 2009 he was artistic director of the Meerkabarett on Sylt . From 2007 to 2011 he was artistic director of the Breminale together with Susanne von Essen .

From 2010 to 2014 Werner was responsible for the store chain interim use and start-up project , from which u. a. the Radieschen café and various social and artistic kiosks emerged. He also designed and moderated series of events under the label “Feinkost Wandel”. B. on the culture of work, migration and homeland or fear and belief. In 2014 he staged the play “RAUSCH by August Strindberg and Falk Richter ” in the Schwankhalle.

Werner has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2005 .

In the 18th electoral term he was a member of the Bremen Citizenship ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) as a replacement for a Senate member from 2011 to 2015 .

He was spokesman for the Greens parliamentary group for building and urban development as well as for cultural and media policy. He was spokesman for the municipal and state deputation for culture, a member of the municipal deputation for the environment, construction, transport, urban development and energy and in the committee for science, media, data protection and freedom of information.

As a deputy member, he was represented in the petitions committee (state) and in the committee for citizen participation, civic engagement and advisory boards (city).
