Casimir Simienowicz (* around 1600 , † 1651 ) was a nobleman from Poland-Lithuania . Born in the Raseiniai area , he was likely of Lithuanian descent. The Lithuanian form Kazimieras Simonavičius is unoccupied and only a reconstruction according to today's usage - there were no Lithuanian family names in the 17th century.

Life

Casimir Simienowicz graduated from Vilnius University with a master's degree. He later worked as a military engineer and officer. Simienowicz traveled on behalf of King Władysław IV. Wasa u. a. the Netherlands . He was an artillery specialist and pioneer of rocket technology and left behind one of the first descriptions of three-stage rocket technology with his work Ars magna artilleriae pars prima from 1650.

In 1650 the work Artis Magnae Artilleriae ("Great Artillery Art") was printed in Amsterdam . The work has been translated into French (1651), German (1676), Dutch (1729) and English. The German title is:

Perfect gun, fireworks and gunsmith art / Hiebevor described in Latin language and compiled with diligence by Casimiro Simienowicz, Königl. Majest. and the Cron Pohlen General Feldzeugmeister lieutenant. Anietzo Jn the Hochteutsche Spraach translated: By Thoma Leonhard Beeren / Lipsien .
