Caspar Lagus

Caspar Lagus , Kaspar Haas (* 1526 / 1533 in Rain am Lech , † 29. January 1606 ) was a German lawyer and professor of law at the University of Ingolstadt .

Life

Caspar Lagus was born in Rain am Lech in 1526 or 1533 . From 1558 he studied at the University of Ingolstadt . From 1560 he was first associate professor there, then from 1562 professor for civil law. In 1576 he took over the office of the university treasurer . In 1585 he was dismissed from office due to negligent administration. In 1588/89 he was again appointed to the professorship. Under Lagus' influence, the entire Ingolstadt law faculty turned against the burning of witches . From 1587 to 1590 he was councilor . From 1586 to 1602 he was also a nurse in Kösching .
