Caspar von Schönberg

Caspar von Schoenberg (* 5. October 1621 in Freiberg , † 1. September 1676 ) was an electoral Saxon Oberbergamt and Amtshauptmann and gentleman on Pfaffroda , Dörnthal and Kriebstein .

Life

Caspar von Schönberg came from the Saxon noble family von Schönberg and was the son of the first marriage of the chief miner Georg Friedrich von Schönberg . He built the castle in Pfaffroda and left the burial place in the Annenkapelle. After his death, the funeral sermon he gave appeared in print.

After Emperor Ferdinand III. refused to allow religious freedom in his hereditary lands , Caspar von Schönberg made land and building materials available to Bohemian exiles in Electoral Saxony. Thereupon they founded the settlements Kleinneuschönberg , Niederneuschönberg and Oberneuschönberg near Olbernhau . The settlements were named after Caspar von Schönberg. He also provided the building materials for the building of the exile churches , such as the mountain church in Oberneuschönberg , and also donated parts of the equipment .

His son Caspar (1660–1689) inherited his father's property, but died a few days before his 29th birthday.
