history
The first documentary mention dates from 1696 as Neu-Schönberg, Klein Theil . From 1656 onwards, Caspar von Schönberg cleared forest areas on Pfaffroda in
order to settle Bohemian exile families. In 1659 the place Kleinneuschönberg was founded. In the period that followed, several mills were built until 1835.
August Schumann mentions Klein Neuschönberg in the State Lexicon of Saxony in 1817 regarding, among other things:
- "In writing it belongs to the knight estate Dörrenthal , has 3 mills, and the right that professionals of all kinds can freely settle there."
A school building was erected in 1839, and as early as 1902 the place received electrical connections from the power station in Olbernhau. During the First World War , peat was extracted from the heath for heating purposes.
On April 1, 1924, the neighboring Reukersdorf was incorporated. The sports field was laid out in 1927, and in 1938 the street lighting was put into operation and the water pipe was built.
On July 1, 1950, Kleinneuschönberg was incorporated into Olbernhau.
