The Waldhufendorf Hallbach is located about 4 kilometers north-northwest of Olbernhau in the Ore Mountains . The Moosheide borders the Flur to the west, the Mittelwald to the north and the Arlitzwald to the southeast .

Local history

The first written mention dates from 1445 as Halbpach . After the Reformation in 1539, Hallbach remained a branch church of Pfaffroda. In 1582 the first teacher was mentioned. In a plague epidemic in 1633, 140 of the 151 inhabitants died.

In 1816 August Schumann only mentions Hallbach in the State Lexicon of Saxony:

"In writing it belongs to the manor Pfaffroda , has a Pfaffroda branch and 1 mill with 2  courses ."

From 1830 various industrial and handicraft businesses were established - hand weaving, wood turnery, board cutters, box makers, toy manufacturers, box makers and the manufacture of seating furniture. With the construction of the road from Olbernhau to Pfaffroda in 1870/1871 (today's B 171), the previous roads lost their importance. In 1872 Hutha was incorporated into Hallbach, and the school building was inaugurated in 1882.

Regarding the branches of business it says in the New Saxon Church Gallery of 1901:

“[...] a place, in which, like in the other localities [the parish], almost only agriculture was practiced. The weaving mill was also at home there. Now that has changed. The toy industry has made its entrance and is now the main food branch. "

In 1912 the place was connected to the electricity network. In 1960 the independent LPG "Morgenrot" was founded here, which in 1964 was integrated into the large LPG "Thomas Müntzer".

On January 1, 1999, the previously independent municipalities of Dörnthal, Hallbach and Pfaffroda b were merged. Sayda to the municipality Pfaffroda, Hallbach and Hutha became districts of the new municipality.

On January 1, 2017, the municipality of Pfaffroda and all of its districts were incorporated into the city of Olbernhau.

Concerning the church it says in the New Saxon Church Gallery of 1901:

“Almost at the end of the village in the middle of the Gottesack stands the old, repeatedly renovated church. The time when the church was built is unknown. In any case, she is of a great age, and was perhaps a field band before the Reformation. The oldest part is the one that now houses the sanctuary. It must have been very small in the past, as the church accounts from 1602 to 1603 stated: »7 Neuschock 31 ½ Gr. the bricklayer Peter Krausen to build the church wall from the ground up and throw Kalck at it. The church has been extended by fifteen yards. ”The altar was bricked. The church was paved with bricks. […] In 1614 the still existing small bell was made by Gabriel Zacharias Hillger in Freiberg. […] In 1689 the large bell was purchased, in 1692 the middle bell. In 1690 30 logs of timber were used to build the tower. […] In 1893 the church was subjected to a thorough renovation. […] The renovation lasted from April to November. On November 12, 1893 (Dom. XXIV p- Trin.) It was solemnly consecrated by Superintendent Haesselbarth. […] The church tower was subjected to a thorough repair in 1844. There used to be a positive in the church that had to be touched up almost every year. Then an organ was purchased, which the congregation will not have enjoyed much. In 1803 it is reported that the organ "has not been struck" for nine years. [...] The current organ was built by the organ builder Erler from Kreina near Oschatz in 1867 for around 900 thaler. "

In 1923 a new organ was consecrated by the Schmeisser company from Rochlitz and just 34 years later it was completely renewed.

traffic

The federal highway 171 Olbernhau– Sayda ( Freiberger Strasse ) runs on the southern outskirts . There is a connection to Hutha via a local road and further to Forchheim via Neusorge .

The closest train station is in Olbernhau on the Chemnitz – Olbernhau-Grünthal railway line .
