Castanopsis lanceifolia is a species of tree fromthe beech family (Fagaceae) that occurs in Southeast Asia.

Castanopsis lanceifolia is a tree . The leaves are entire.

The fruit cups (cupulae) are covered with thin, roof-tile-like scales. The fruit cups are egg-shaped or slightly compressed, they completely enclose the only nut with the exception of the terminal umbo. The skin of the mature glans is covered with four to five wavy lines.

Flowering time is from January to September, the fruit ripens from March to August.

Distribution and locations

The species occurs in Thailand , India (Himalaya), Bhutan and Myanmar . It grows in evergreen lowland rainforest and in deeper mountain forests at altitudes of 10 to 800 meters.
