Castanopsis siamensis is a species of tree fromthe beech family (Fagaceae) that occurs in Southeast Asia.

Castanopsis siamensis is a tree . The leaves are serrated and tomentose and hairy on the underside of the leaves.

The fruit cups (cupulae) are covered with thin, roof-tile-like scales. These are trimmed at the end. The fruit cups are egg-shaped or slightly squeezed, they enclose up to three quarters of the only nut. The scar at the base of the nut is curved.

Distribution and locations

The species is endemic to Thailand . It grows in mixed deciduous and oak - pine forests at altitudes of 400 to 1000 m.
