The Castello Baglioni , also Palazzo dei Conti Baglioni, is a hilltop castle on the Piazza Roma at the highest point of the municipality of Civitella Messer Raimondo in the province of Chieti .
history
Despite many renovations and the lack of sources about the foundation of the castle, it seems to date from the 18th century, when the Baglions settled in Civitella Messer Raimondo.
description
The castle has a square plan, the inner courtyard an almost rectangular one. A bastion is on the east side. It has two floors. The stone facade extends over seven bays . The entrance yoke protrudes slightly. The tower is made of bricks on stone consoles, whereas the rest of the bastion is made of rubble . The entrance gate is made of stone from the majella . Above the entrance there is a protruding balcony on consoles . The entrance hall has a barrel vault that is decorated with frescoes . You then get to the inner courtyard, in which, analogous to the facade, there is another tower (possibly an observation tower).
