Castillo de Jadraque
The Castillo de Jadraque is a castle in Jadraque , a municipality in the Spanish province of Guadalajara in the autonomous region of Castile-La Mancha , which was built in the 15th century. The castle on a hilltop is a protected monument .
History and description
The castle is mentioned in Al-Andalus's Arabic chronicles as early as 801 . She guarded the plains of Henares and the connection to Guadalajara .
The castle, whose ground plan fills the entire hilltop, forms an elongated parallelogram with an aspect ratio of one to four. There are square or round towers at the corners and long sides. The embankment around the castle increases its protection. The crenellated complex has neither a main tower nor loopholes .
