Cathrine Sandnes (born March 19, 1972 in Seoul , South Korea ) is a Norwegian journalist , editor , author and former martial artist .

In October 2019, Sandnes moved from Gyldendal- Verlag, where she was head of the non-fiction division, to Stenersens Forlag, which is part of Kagge Forlag . She is a journalist and writes columns for various newspapers, including Dagbladet .

Sandnes was a literary critic for Aftenposten , but also wrote for the weekly magazine Kvinner og Klær (KK, Women and Dresses ). In 2004 she was honored as the cultural editor of Dagsavisen .

From 2006 to 2014 Sandnes published Samtiden , Norway's largest and oldest cultural magazine for politics, literature and social issues. During this time, she sat on the voting rights committee for the 200th anniversary from 2009 to 2013 . She was co-editor of the Norwegian history of equality 1814–2013 («Norsk likestillingshistorie fra 1814–2013»). From 2014 to 2017 Sandnes headed the publishing house Manifest and its center for social analysis (Manifest senter for samfunnanalyse) .

Sports

Sandnes is one of the leading karate athletes in her country. She was 13 times national champion in karate. In kickboxing she won the Norwegian championship and a bronze medal at the European championships in 1994. In 2003 Sandnes was awarded the "Kongepokal".

family

Sandnes is married to Aslak Sira Myhre , who has headed the Nasjonalbibliotek (NB) since 2014 . The couple have two daughters.
