life and work

Kagge grew up in Oslo. He studied law, became a lawyer, and worked for Norsk Hydro .

Together with his compatriot Børge Ousland , he took part in the first unsupported expedition to the North Pole in 1990.

In 1992/93 he finished the first unsupported solo expedition to the South Pole , which he reached on January 7, 1993. He covered the 1310 km long route in 51 days.

In 1994 he climbed Mount Everest . He became the first person to have reached these three extreme points in the world.

Kagge is a well-known art collector. In 2015 he published the book A Poor Collector's Guide to Buying Great Art , in which he discussed buying art with little money. Since the art market is characterized by overproduction and oversupply, a work of art is not an object of speculation for it; Rather, it provides an emotional return, life with art is a pleasure.
