Caungula is a small town and county in northeastern Angola .
administration
Caungula is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Lunda Norte . 64,861 inhabitants live in the district (extrapolated estimate 2013). From now on, the 2014 census should provide reliable population data.
The Caungula district is made up of two municipalities (Comunas):
- Camaxilo
- Caungula
economy
The district is strongly characterized by agriculture. With an agricultural fair, the district administration wants to make it easier for producers to access new markets and innovations. The completion of the national road EN225 should also simplify the transport and thus the trade in the products. Cattle breeding and the cultivation of tomatoes, rice, coffee, sweet potatoes , cassava, peanuts and maize are seen as particularly suitable for avoiding local hunger in the future and developing economic potential in the district. Fish farming and fishing in the rivers in the district should also be promoted.
There are 67 farming production communities and seven agricultural cooperatives in the district (as of March 2014). Their number is to be increased in order to enable targeted funding by the district administration.
