Cavit Yenicioğlu

Cavit Yenicioğlu (born May 14, 1910 in Edirne ; † December 16, 2009 , Istanbul ) was a Turkish Brigadier General and the twenty-second Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Turkey .

Life

Yenicioğlus attended the İstanbul Lisesi elite high school and went to the Kara Harp Okulu military school (German: Land War School) after graduating from high school . In April 1931 he was promoted to lieutenant . Between 1934 and 1938 he completed his officer training with honors at the Kara Harp Akademisi (German: Land War Academy ). In 1938 he became a staff officer . After several command posts in different parts of the country, he was appointed military attaché and sent first to Iran and then to England. He also served 14 months in South Korea as commander of the Turkish troops there . During the 1960 coup, under the National Unity Committee , he was installed as military governor of Diyarbakir . However, this service only lasted three months because at the age of 50 he was sent into early retirement by the coup plotters.

Freemasonry

In 1962 he brought the light into the Yükseliş Lodge. In 1963 he became a journeyman and in 1964 a master craftsman. He was also one of the founders of the Arayiş Lodge. After various other board duties, he was elected Grand Master in 1986.
