history

The origin of the word Caxito comes from the Kimbundu spoken in this region , i. that is, it is the Portuguese transformation of the word "Kaxitu". Etymologically, "Kaxitu" is the diminutive of "xitu" (meat), which means "a piece of meat".

Caxito has existed in preforms for hundreds of years. In its current form as a county seat, it was created on April 26, 1980 after the division of Luanda Province. It is the seat of the district (Município) Dande, which until 1975 belonged to the province of Luanda .

The province of Bengo has a total of about 461,000 inhabitants, but these are estimates that should have long been overtaken by the particularly strong population growth here.
