Life

Born as the son of Wilhelm von Ahlefeldt from Schleswig-Holstein nobility on Klein Nordsee ( Felde ), he was royal lieutenant around 1770. Later Doctor of Rights and since 1791 heir to Klein Nordsee and Flarup, he was elected provost of the Preetz Preetz Monastery on August 26, 1792 and administered this office until 1836. He was thus the legal representative of the monastery and responsible for the school system in the provost's office . Under his prelature, the Preetze school library was set up on December 12, 1794. In 1799 Ahlefeldt sold the Klein Nordsee estate to Count von Schimmelmann for 4,000 Reichstaler . He donated the interest (???) for the poor on the estate and for the teachers in the fields and backguards . In the school system for which Ahlefeldt was responsible, the pastor of Schönberg Johann Georg Schmidt had direct supervision over the teachers in the region. Among these was the teacher Peter Plett , of 1791, the cowpox - vaccination discovered and applied. When Plett could no longer take lessons because of his alcohol problems, Ahlefeldt personally campaigned in 1820 to ensure that Plett was provided with an apartment and a pension in Stakendorf .

Von Ahlefeldt married Elisabeth Anna Louise von Wedderkop (1765–1836), a granddaughter of Gottfried von Wedderkop , on August 2, 1782 . On January 28, 1817, he was appointed to the conference council (rank class 1. No. 13). On November 1, 1828, he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Dannebrog .
