Cecil is located in eastern Alabama in the southern United States. It is located approximately 12 kilometers south of the Tallapoosa River , which merges into the Alabama River to the west.

history
The place was named after Cecil McDade, a well-known local family. A post office was opened in 1895, which was closed in 1986.
