Cecilia L. Ridgeway

Cecilia L. Ridgeway (mostly Cecilia Ridgeway ) (born November 22, 1947 in Edinburgh , Texas ) is an American sociologist who served as the 104th president of the American Sociological Association (ASA) in 2013 . She holds the Lucie Stern Professorship at Stanford University . Her research areas are social psychology , social stratification in a gender context and cultural sociology .

Career

Ridgeway studied sociology and social psychology, received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1967 and her master's degree from Cornell University in 1969 . It was there that she received her Ph.D. PhD. After holding positions at various US universities, she became a professor at the University of Iowa in 1985 . She has been teaching at Stanford University since 1991, and since 2004 as Lucie Stern Professor .
