The Cedar Rapids Titans are an arena football team from Cedar Rapids that currently plays in the Indoor Football League (IFL). The Titans play their home games at the US Cellular Center.

history

The Titans were founded in 2011 and started playing for the 2012 season.

The Titans are the very first arena football team to be stationed in Cedar Rapids. Since their inception, the Titans have made it into the playoffs four times, two of them to the United Conference Championships.

IFL season 2012

The first game in the club's history was won on March 3, 2012 with 32:13 against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. Only three more victories followed by the end of the season. So the Titans ended the season with 4 wins to 10 defeats in penultimate place in the United Conference and missed the playoffs.

At the end of the season, defensive end Xzavie Jackson and defensive back TJ Simmons were elected to the ALL-IFL 2nd team.

IFL season 2013

The 2013 season ended with the playoff participation. The foundation stone was laid right at the start of the season when the first four games were all won. In the end there were 9 wins, 5 defeats and came second behind the Sioux Falls Storm in the United Conference.

With one of the co-owners publicly offering his stake in the team for $ 80,000 during the season, the founder of the Titans, Chris Kokalis, had to answer to the media as to whether the Titans would be sold again after just one season.

Titans' coach Mike Stroute was named Coach of the Year at the end of the season. Running back laRon Council , wide receiver Carl Sims and defensive end Xzavie Jackson were called up to the All-IFL 1st.

IFL season 2014

Also in 2014 the Titans reached the playoffs in second place in the United Conference with 11 wins and only 3 defeats. Also this season only the league leader Sioux Falls Storm was better.

In the United Conference Championship they lost to the Storm with 36:73 and eliminated.

The “Special Teams Player of the Year” award went to Titans kicker Rockne Belmonte at the end of the season . Again LaRon Council and Defensive End Kyle Jenkins were elected to the All-IFL 1st Team.

IFL season 2015

As in 2014, they reached the playoffs as second in the United Conference with 9 wins to 5 defeats. After winning once against the Sioux Falls Storm in the main round in the last two years , both main round games were lost in 2015 and were eliminated again in the United Conference Championship against the Storm at 12:34.

Defensive End Jeremiah Price had the honor of being named Defensive Player of the Year.

IFL season 2016

12 wins and 4 defeats were again enough to make the Playoff participation in 2016 perfect, even if only over the wild card round. In the Wild Card Game, the Titans defeated the Wichita Falls Nighthawks 63:33, before the semi-finals against the Sioux Falls Storm ended again.

Again Jeremiah Price was named Defensive Player of the Year and was elected to the All-IFL 1st Team together with Xzavie Jackson . Price then moved to the Jacksonville Sharks in the National Arena League , a newly founded indoor football league.

IFL season 2017

In 2017 the complete slump followed with only one win and 15 defeats. The playoffs were clearly missed.

For the first time since its inception, no player has been elected to an All-IFL team.

Stadion

The Titans play their home games in the US Cellular Center, which holds 6,900 spectators . Since Cedar Rapid does not have a professional sports team, the Titans share the stadium with various college and university teams.
