Ceduna is a small town with 2,289 inhabitants on the west coast of the Australian state of South Australia on the Eyre Peninsula . The city can be reached either along the coast on the Flinders Highway or further inland on the Eyre Highway . The site is located 786 kilometers from Adelaide on the edge of the treeless Nullarbor Desert on Murat Bay . Ceduna means "resting place" in the language of the Aborigines .

Ceduna is located on a sandy and sheltered bay with small offshore islands that are ideal for beach holidays, fishing and boat trips. There are restaurants, hotels, motels, caravan parks and a hospital in the village. There is a port three kilometers away at Cape Thevenard. Ceduna is famous for its oysters and its annual oyster festival in October. Whales can be seen between July and October. The Norfolk fir is distinctive for the place , and Aboriginal settlements are located near the place. Ceduna is considered the gateway to the Nullarbor Desert . In addition, parks such as Yumbarra National Park , Nullarbor National Park , Nuyts Archipelago Conservation Park , an archipelago and Pureba Conservation Park can be visited.
