The Nullarbor National Park is located in the Nullarbor Desert in South Australia and is 5,781 km² in size. The Eyre Highway runs through the park . The park is 300 kilometers away from Ceduna and extends via Eucla to Nullarbor Roadhouse along a rocky coast on the Eyre Highway. There is also a railway line that runs off the coast in the country. The northern limit of the park is the Nullarbor Regional Reserve and in the west the park ends at the state border of Western Australia and South Australia. The Nullarbor Desert is home to a large population of southern hair-nosed wombats , which are found exclusively in the southern arid region of Australia.

The park is a wide, flat and dry plain with few bushes and no trees. The climate is arid , which means that little water falls. The national park has a 200 kilometer long coastline that drops vertically 60 to 80 meters deep to the ocean. It is the Great Australian Bight , a 200-kilometer stretch of coast with no natural harbor. In the winter and spring months, right whales can be seen at the Head of Bight as they calve and raise their young in the bay. There are also sea lion colonies on the coast .
