Cem Akin
Cem Akin (* 1970 ) is a part- time actor . His main job is the Turkish consulate in Hamburg . He is Fatih Akin's older brother and can be seen in several, sometimes larger, roles, primarily in his brother's award-winning feature films.
Activity in film
His first involvement in a feature film came about when an actor who was originally cast for Fatih Akin's second short film Getürkt (1996) canceled shortly before shooting began. For want of a better idea, Akin called his brother, who was unemployed in Bargteheide at the time, to see if he would like to play the role. After that, Cem Akin played part-time in his brother's films. He also appeared in short films by other directors and even played supporting roles in a number of ZDF series. He can be seen as himself in the documentary We Forgot to Return (2001). After a role in Anno Saul's Kebab Connection (2005) , he played a Muslim fanatic in another of his brother's films, On the Other Side .
