The two-colored knapweed ( Centaurea dealbata ) is a species of knapweed ( Centaurea ) in the sunflower family (Asteraceae).
features
The two-colored knapweed is a perennial plant that reaches heights of 30 to 80 (100) centimeters. It forms a Pleiokorm root . The pappus is about a millimeter long, not pinnate and multi-row. The basal leaves are equally double pinnate. The stem leaves are simply pinnate, the sections are egg-shaped, pointed and entire, the end section is not enlarged. The heads sit individually on the simple or loosely branched stems , are surrounded by bracts and have a diameter of 3 to 5 (6) centimeters. The bract appendages are ovate-round, large and deeply fringed, the middle part is 3 to 5 millimeters wide. The marginal flowers are pink and bright. The disk flowers are lighter.
Flowering time is from June to July (September).
Occurrence
The two-colored knapweed occurs in the Caucasus and possibly also in northeastern Turkey on mountain steppes and subalpine meadows at altitudes of 1700 to 2400 meters.

The two-colored knapweed is used as an ornamental plant for perennial beds and the edges of trees. It has been in culture since 1804 at the latest. The variety 'Steenbergii' has dark carmine-pink marginal flowers, white disc flowers and reaches heights of growth of 60 centimeters, 'dwarf form' reaches heights of growth of 40 centimeters.
