The green and white knapweed ( Centaurea hypoleuca ) is a species of knapweed ( Centaurea ) in the sunflower family (Asteraceae).
features
The green and white knapweed is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 30 to 60 centimeters. The leaves are irregularly pinnate to pinnately lobed. The heads are 3 to 6 centimeters in diameter. The bract appendages are lanceolate-triangular. The middle part is 1 to 2 millimeters wide.
The flowering period extends from July to October.
Occurrence
The green and white knapweed occurs in Turkey on gravel and rocks at altitudes of 600 to 2600 meters.

The green and white knapweed is widely used as an ornamental plant for perennial beds and as a cut flower. The 'John Couts' variety has heads 6 centimeters in diameter and fragrant pink flowers. The 'Abraxas' variety reaches heights of 30 centimeters and has a compact, bushy habit.
