The Central Expressway (abbreviation: CTE, Chinese : 中央 高速公路; Pinyin: Zhongyang Gāosù Gōnglù; Tamil: மத்திய விரைவுச்சாலை; malay : Lebuhraya Tengah) is the most important highway in Singapore. It connects the city center with the northern residential areas including Toa Payoh , Bishan and Ang Mo Kio . Further north, the CTE merges into the Seletar Expressway and the Tampines Expressway .
