The Son Reus power plant ( Catalan Central Tèrmica de Son Reus , Spanish Central Térmica de Son Reus ) is a combined cycle power plant on the Balearic island of Mallorca .

description

Construction of the system in Palma around 8 kilometers north of the city center in the Son Reus district began in 2000 and was built in three stages. In 2005 the construction was completed and went online.

The first assembly consists of four individual gas turbines of type 6B with 36 MW each, which are not operated in a network, they were supplied by General Electric .

The second CCGT group was installed with three Alstom type GT8C gas turbines with 52.5 MW each and one Alstom type TC854MV122 steam turbine with 75 MW and then another CCGT plant with two General Electric type 6FA gas turbines with 75 MW each and one steam turbine Siemens ST5 with 75 MW installed. Behind the gas turbines, Son Reus uses NEM waste heat boilers and HRSG horizontal two-pressure boilers with natural circulation. The high pressure side works at 89 bar and 540 ° C. The low pressure side works at 8 bar and 240 ° C.

The power plant currently has a total installed capacity of 601.5 MW and can be operated with natural gas as the main fuel or alternatively with diesel fuel . This power plant is primarily operated in the medium load range and, if required, in the peak current range. The operator is the Spanish energy company GESA- Endesa .
