Cerdeira was the seat of a community of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( Concelho ) of Arganil in the Coimbra district . 327 inhabitants lived in the municipality on an area of 5.50 km² (as of June 30, 2011).

As part of the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Cerdeira and Moura da Serra were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Cerdeira e Moura da Serra . Cerdeira is the seat of this newly formed community.
