Moura da Serra is a place and a former municipality in Portugal .
history
Romans settled here, as proven by coin finds. They operated ore mines here, in which they extracted tin and gold in particular.
Today's place was probably rebuilt during the medieval Reconquista . The place name goes back to the Arab presence since 711, like a number of other places in Portugal, which refer to the Moors and especially to Moorish noble ladies ( Moura ) in their place names and thus in legends and founding myths .
Moura da Serra belonged to the municipality and county of Avô . After the Avô district was dissolved in 1855, Moura da Serra joined Arganil.
In 1962 Moura da Serra became an independent municipality. With the territorial reform of 2013, the municipality of Moura da Serra was dissolved again and merged with Cerdeira .
administration
Moura da Serra was the seat of a community of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Arganil in the Coimbra district . 115 inhabitants lived in the municipality on an area of 12.92 km² (as of June 30, 2011).
The following places are in the area of the former municipality:
- Casal da Eira
- Casarias
- Chao do Valado
- Moura da Serra
- Mourisia

In the course of the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Moura da Serra and Cerdeira were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Cerdeira e Moura da Serra . Cerdeira became the seat of this newly formed community.
