Cereus mirabella is a species of plant in the genus Cereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet mirabella means from the word origin '(lat. Mirabilis) wonderful'. However, the naming does not directly refer to this meaning, but to the collection point of the holotype near the village of Mirabela in the west of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

Cereus mirabella grows as a shrub with spreading and numerous branched, blue-green shoots that later turn gray-green. The shoots have a diameter of 2 to 3 centimeters. There are 3 to 5 wavy and sometimes barely pronounced ribs . The circular areoles are covered with short to long, white or brown wool. The 3 to 6 needle-like and spreading yellow thorns are reddish brown at their base. They are up to 2.5 inches long.
The white flowers are 10 to 15 centimeters long. The egg-shaped, greenish frosted fruits are up to 3.5 centimeters long.
Systematics, distribution and endangerment
Cereus mirabella is distributed in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais in the caatinga bushes on sandy soil. It was first described in 1979 by Friedrich Ritter under the name Mirabella minensis . After the transfer to the genus Cereus, it was not possible to keep the species name because it was already documented (today Cipocereus minensis ). For this reason, a new name was necessary, which was done in 1991 by Nigel Paul Taylor .
Cereus Mirabella was in the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN in 2002 as " Vulnerable (VU) , d". H. endangered, classified. In 2013 the species was named " Endangered (EN) ". H. listed as endangered.
