Cerknica ( German  Zirknitz ; Italian Circonio ) is a municipality in the Notranjska region in Slovenia .

The entire municipality has 11,112 inhabitants, 3552 of whom live in the main town of Cerknica alone.

Zirknitzer See

The biggest seepage lake in the world at Cerknica ( Cerkniško jezero ) is considered to be the center of attraction . After heavy rains and in spring, the area of ​​the lake increases to 40 km². The best view of this lake is from Slivnica mountain . The Krížna water cave is also nearby .
