The Cerro Huemul is a hill on the Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises south of Playa Angosta and the hills Cerro El Abismo and Cerro Pudú on the east side of Cape Shirreff at the northern end of the John Paul II peninsula .
Scientists of the 39th Chilean Antarctic Expedition named it after the Andean deer ( Huemul in Spanish ), which is also shown in the coat of arms of Chile .
